What cookies are
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We group ours into essential cookies, which the site cannot work without, and non-essential cookies, which we set only with your consent.
Essential cookies
These are always active because the site cannot function without them. They carry no advertising or third-party tracking.
- Session (atn_token, atn_user) — keep you securely signed in after you log in.
- Locale — remembers whether you are browsing in English or French.
- Consent (atn_consent) — records your cookie choice so we don't ask again on every page.
Non-essential cookies
We set these only after you accept. Decline and they are never written; the rest of the site keeps working normally.
- Audience (atn_cx) — an anonymous device identifier used to count views and shares of predictions, so authors can see the reach of their calls. It is not tied to your identity and is never used for advertising.
Traffic measurement — no cookie
We measure how many people reach the site with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser, and does not fingerprint your device — so there is nothing here to consent to, and it applies to every visitor, including those who decline above. It tells us how many people reached a page and which site sent them; nothing it collects identifies you. We chose it over the usual cookie-based analytics for exactly that reason.
Why we use them
Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your preferences; the audience cookie helps forecasters understand how their public predictions travel. We do not use cookies for advertising or sell cookie data.
How to withdraw consent
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the control below — no need to clear anything by hand. Withdrawing turns the audience cookie off and deletes it from your browser; the essential cookies stay and the rest of the site keeps working normally.
Audience cookie
Off — no audience cookie is set. Switch on to allow anonymous view and share counts.
